Japanese Prime Minister and International Olympic Committee Agree to Postpone Tokyo Olympics
After weeks of back-and-forth about the health and safety of Olympic athletes, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has convinced the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to postpone the 2020 Summer Olympic Games scheduled to take place in Tokyo. Abe says no date has been set, but his proposal is to postpone the games by one year. The IOC had been hesitant to postpone, but rising global pressure caused them to change course in recent days.
